Introducing Ooni Groceries

Pizza is, at its heart, a humble food. Water, flour, salt, yeast, and a few toppings respectfully handled and lovingly cooked — that’s all it takes to make a standout pie. But because of how integral they are, each component needs to be great.

We took this idea to heart recently with our UK launch of Ooni Groceries, a line of select ingredients for every step of the pizza-making process, available on ooni.com and delivered right to your door. Now, we’re bringing Ooni Groceries stateside.

From the basics, like flour, to extra special finishing touches like hot honey, we’ve made sure everything we offer is of the highest quality. Our internal team, the Grocery Culinary Council, tested ingredients from around the world to arrive at this refined collection of Ooni-endorsed necessities.

It was important that the ingredients we offer represent the place where pizza originated, so a selection of what you’ll find in our shop is Italian in origin. That said, we didn’t limit ourselves in our search for quality. You’ll find Ceresota flour from the Midwest, Mike’s Hot Honey (headquartered in Brooklyn, New York), and Bianco DiNapoli tomatoes from California.

Our current offerings have been carefully chosen to take you through every step of the pizza-making process successfully and end up with the best pies possible.

Flours
We looked for high-quality flours from trusted companies – Caputo, Ceresota, King Arthur, Tony Gemignani – that would serve a range of needs.

Caputo is an Italian company that has been milling for almost a hundred years. Their focus on quality drew us instinctively to their products. They use a slow grinding process, milling just wheat, with no additives or enzymes. The Pizzeria Flour, at 12.5% protein, is blended specifically for high-heat environments, in a ‘00’ style which makes it ideal for Neapolitan pizza dough. Their gluten-free flour is the one we turn to when making free-from dough, and their semolina is fine and soft, great for keeping any style of dough from sticking at launch. Their fast-acting dry yeast works well in most dough recipes and serves as our pantry staple.

Ceresota flour is made from high-protein Kansan hard winter wheat. Its high protein content makes it a great pizza flour (more protein means more gluten, and more gluten means a stretchier dough) and their century-long track record of quality makes them a trusted partner.

And Tony Gemignani is a force to be reckoned with in the pizza world. He owns 13 restaurants, is the first and only baking triple crown winner at the International Pizza Championships in Lecce, and he has written The Pizza Bible, one of the best-regarded overviews of pizza styles. After vetting it in his restaurants for six months, Tony has since gone on to create his own flour blend. His 14% protein California wheat blend creates chewy, crispy pizza, time and time again.

Tomatoes
We love the quality and simplicity of canned tomatoes, which are picked at the peak of ripeness. We offer two brands, one Italian (Ciao) and one domestic (Bianco DiNapoli). Ciao San Marzano tomatoes are DOP, or Denominazione di Origine Protetta (Protected Designation of Origin), meaning they come directly from the soil around Naples. They are grown under strict regulations and pass multiple quality benchmarks before being canned and shipped worldwide. Stateside, we turned to a favorite of many respected American pizza-makers. Co-founded by world-renowned pizzaiolo Chris Bianco (of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, Arizona) and third-generation California produce canner Rob DiNapoli, these high-quality California tomatoes are picked at the height of freshness, then accented with just a hint of salt.

Finishing Garnishes and Spices
When it comes to the finishing touches on your pizza, there’s hardly a more universally satisfying drizzle than Mike’s Hot Honey (or Mike’s Extra Hot Honey, if you prefer). With origins in the kitchen of the famous Paulie Gee’s pizzeria in New York City, Mike’s perfectly balanced sweet heat adds an unexpected layer to your topping combinations.

We hope you’ll come to know and love them all as much as we do. We built our shop to feel like you’ve stumbled upon a well-stocked artisanal market — but with our online site, you won’t have to go anywhere. Just place your order and in no time at all, we’ll get you everything you need to make amazing pizza.
